Project Details
This interesting project comprises the conversion and extension of a listed building in the centre of Liverpool, a former rope factory, into a 106 bedroom hotel for base2stay Liverpool, due to open for trading in July 2010.
The project was secured by negotiation, with Blenheim House Construction being heavily involved in the design development and the application for Lottery fund grants. Works started on site in October 2008, with an enabling contract to make the building safe.
Following the insertion of support steelwork and new concrete floors in the existing building, a new timber fourth floor has been installed at roof level. The ground floor slabs and drainage are now complete, along with the structural steelwork to the new build, with two floors of power floated concrete cast.
With works to the external elevations progressing well, the main focus of the site team is to construct the 106 bedrooms. Each level of the build is at a different phase, with some bedrooms and bathrooms almost complete and others at first fix stage.
The new sub-station serving the building is now live, and the two guest lifts and one back of house lift have been installed and are awaiting commissioning.
