Lakeside, Portsmouth

Lakeside Business Park accommodates the Head Office of IBM and is being transformed with plans for a landmark hotel, conference centre, medical centre and extensive new offices, along with small shops and restaurants.

This project involved isolating and decommissioning the aging water cooled chillers along with their associated pumps, cooling towers and power supplies, and replacing them with new air cooled chillers, pumps and power supplies.

The new chillers sit on a purpose built steel sub-frame, supported on ground beams and piled foundations, and have been sited just outside the existing power house where the redundant chillers are housed.  The site needed to be enlarged by pulling back and regrading an existing 5m high earth bank, which has been supported by a new low level retaining wall.
